Topic: Let's start R Data-science: Database construction and mining in bioinformatics and chemoinformatics

Professor Dr. Shigehiko Kanaya has obtained the Bachelor Degree from Department of Applied Biology, Science University of Tokyo, Japan in 1985. Then, he obtained Master's Degree and Doctorate of Engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He worked as Assistant Professor at Yamagata University from 1990 until 1999. Then, he became as Guest Associate Professor at National Institute of Genetics and then, has been promoted as Associate Professor at Yamagata University in 2001. He then became a Professor at Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) from 2004 until now. He also affliated as a Professor at NAIST Data Science Center from 2017 until 2020. He has been appointed as Guest Senior Chief Researcher at RIKEN from 2004 until 2020. Recently, he has been appointed as Technical Advisor at Japan Association for Chemical Innovation. He has been actively involved in research, especially in Bioinformatics and Data Science field and has published in many high impact journals such as Nature, Scientific Reports, BMC Bioinformatics and others.

Dato’ Dr. Ir. Muhamad Guntor Mansor Tobeng has obtained the Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Electronic and System Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1986) and also has been awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Science) from University Tun Hussien Onn Malaysia (2020). He has been awarded Darjah Setia Dato’ DiRaja Kedah (DSDK) in 2014. He also has achieved several awards including APVIA (Asia PV Industry Award) and IEM Award (Power & Energy ) in 2019, ASEAN Energy Award (2018) and National Energy Award (2018), Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2016 & 2017), Anugerah Tokoh Usahawan MARA in 2017, Frost & Sullivan (2016) and European PV Magazine Award (2015). He is registered as Professional Engineer (Electronic) with Board of Engineers Malaysia which carries the title Ingenieur (Ir.) and also registered as Electrical Energy Manager with Suruhanjaya Tenaga. He was a Council member of Melaka Greentech Council 2013 and also a Panel member in the formulation of solar road map by MIGHT.

Topic: Envisioning the Viability of the 6G Connected Intelligent Networked Computing Environment

Professor Dr. Suhaidi Hassan received his bachelor's degree in computer science from the State University of New York in Binghamton, New York, master's degree in information science (telecommunication/networks) from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. in computing (computer networks) from the University of Leeds in United Kingdom. He is a tenure track professor of computing network and the founding chair of the InterNetWorks Research Laboratory at the School of Computing, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Prof. Hassan has held various academic administrative positions including the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM College of Arts and Sciences, Dean of the UUM Faculty of Information Technology, and the Deputy Director of Research at the UUM Centre for Research and Consultancy. He also served as a visiting professor at national and international universities. Prof. Hassan is a founding member and the past President of the Internet Society Malaysia, as well as the Internet Society Fellow alumnus to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). He has authored and co-authored over 250 refereed technical publications and successfully supervised 27 Ph.D. scholars in his research area of computer and communication networks. He was a recipient of the Swiss WKD Foundation's Young Scientist Fellowship Award of the World Knowledge Dialogue, CransMontana, Switzerland, in 2006. In the same year, he led a task force for the establishment of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)-UUM Asia–Pacific Centre of Excellence for Rural ICT Development, a human resource development initiative of the ITU, which serves as the focal point for rural ICT development initiatives across Asia–Pacific region. In addition to being an invited speaker at numerous research conferences and technical meetings such as the IETF and IEEE meetings, he also participates in international public fora, such as Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) meetings and the Internet Governance Forums (IGF). He has served as editor, reviewer, and referee for journals and conferences, as well as an examiner for over 100 doctoral and postgraduate scholars in his research areas. Prof. Hassan is also a founding member of the IHL Distributed Ledger Technologies Consortium (IDLTC), a blockchain consortium established under the purview of the Malaysian Ministry of Education, a founding member of the Internet Society (Global) Blockchain Special Interest Group, the ICANN At-Large Ambassador and the de-facto host of the 68th ICANN Public Policy Meeting (ICANN68), (virtual) Kuala Lumpur in June 2020.

Topic: Brain-machine interface - What have been done and what the future holds

 

Abdul Hamid Adom hails from Kuala Lumpur and has sinced taught in USM since 2001 before moving to UniMAP in 2004. Graduated with a Ph.D in Artificial Intelligence in Control Engineering from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), UK in 2001, after his completion of both B.Eng (Electronic Systems Engineering) and M.Sc (Modern Control & Instrumentation Systems) at the same university in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) as well as a Dean of School of Mechatronic Engineering at UniMAP from 2013-2016 and 2007-2013 respectively. Now focuses on mentoring and research with research groups in Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) and Mobile Robotics, as well as Centre of Excellence for Advanced Sensor Technology (CEASTech). Also the advisor to Motorsports Technology Research Unit (MoTECH), also at UniMAP.
